Right, Cher is really impressive. Think of her career, singing is just OK, but compare the quality of movies and acting, and Cher is by far the better. Alas, Madonna is a better marketer and more iconic than Cher.

CHER by a long way,as you stated over 4 decades she has entertained millions of ppl with her ageless songs...
Madonna on the other hand whilst has sold millions records is still not a patch on the evergreen CHER,
I have had soooo many fantasises about CHER it's not funny,I think she still is so damn alluring and sexual.
What I would give to spend a night with her, and no not necessarily for sex either just to talk and cuddle would be enough...I adore her....Cheers

Without a dout Cher she was a ground breaker and madonna copied alot of her style i,e, clothes, actions etc..Besides Cher is ten times better looking..(lol) Good Luck Good question..

i don't mind a couple of madonna songs here and there but i think most of it is rubbish, but have you seen cher's live performances, they can actually get pretty weird but she's an awesome singer.....so who's better? I'll have to go with cher, i admire her more than i do madonna, i mean madonna is a real skank, and i mean SKANK!!

I've never understood the popularity of either one, and will promptly change the station if either comes on the radio.

madonna has def. put out more work, and has been consistantly on top for over 23 years. cher is awesome too but when you come down to their output madonna reigns them all
