It really is just a disipline and habit thing.
All of us could be poor morning people if we let it slip.
Its probably a question of need. You've not been in trouble for being late so getting away with it subconsiously vindicates your decision to stay in bed.
Try putting the alarm clock somewhere where you have to get out of bed to turn it off, make it an annoying buzzer rather than the radio.
Becasue you are anxious about it, you probably see it as a real chore and resent getting up on time. This makes it harder for you. Can you plan to do something in the morning that you look forward to ? If you like the news, get up and watch it, or go and buy a paper, get outside for 5 minutes, even if its just standing by the back door while yo uhave your coffee.
If you are fine throughout the rest of the day, then getting up and seeing the daylight you are wasting will help you get up earlier on other days.
Create an enjoyable need to get up.
Its easy for me, we've got a farm full of alarm clocks that need feeding !
Tiredness, hangover or illness just don't come into it for me, its because i have a need to get up regardless of how i feel. So i don't resent it, I have to be happy doing work at 5AM every morning for the animals sake, you should try to create that need.

Try and have your clothes ready the day before, put your alarm clock on the other side of the room, promise yourself a really nice breakfast, set your alarm half an hour fast (so it seems like you are getting a lie in) Once you are up, splash your face 5 times with cold water (not only wakes you up but is good for toning your skin). Once you are in this routine make a note of every day that you get to work on time and then come pay day reward yourself for staying motivated!! Good luck x

The alarm over the other side of the room works but also put the light on. The light will keep you from falling back to sleep. Get out of the bed, don't linger longer. Do stretching exercises. Make yourself smile to yourself, even if you feel miserable. These things all wake you up and make you feel soooo much better than just lolling around in bed, putting off the inevitable!!

I used to be the same way. Then my kids started school. First off, go to bed a little earlier. Then, move you alarm clock to the other side of the room. I bought a really loud one and keep it in the hallway right outside my bedroom. Then you find one thing that will really motivte you, it could be anything like remind yourself the first time that alarm goes off about your new potential job and income raise. That will help you to become more of a morning person. Get out of bed and get right into the shower. A good shower always helps wak you up. Plus it keeps you from going back to bed. Good luck

I am a night person who had to train myself to be a morning person. Moving the alarm clock is a good idea to start with. You could even try one of those alarm cloks that roll off of the nightstand and roll around the room. That might get you out of bed. Getting out of bed is the key to changing, it is too easy to ignor the clock and say I am only going to stay here five more minutes. I get to the office at 6 A.M. now.

If you do get promoted, you'll have a lot more responsibility on your shoulders. Do you want this? Are you ready for it? You don't sound like you are. Maybe you would be better working in the afternoons or evening. I'm not a morning person either and I found afternoon work much more in tune with my body clock.

i know what you mean, i can't get going either. what i do is set all my clocks fast so if i get up abit late (according to my alarm clock) I'm actually on time. i had to get me a dual alarm in the end, sounds like a truck reversing. also move your alarm clock so that you have to get out of bed to snooze it.
go to bed alittle bit earlier and have all your stuff ready the night before.
stop drinking coffee after 8pm
good luck

buy about five alarm clocks, and dot them around the room so you have to search for them. Then set off a coffee machine and wait and recover from turning off all the alarms. Then the smell will get you going, drink coffee. Grand. Up and go.

Desperately dull, but try going to bed half an hour earlier. There are also gentle alarms, that gradually raise light levels, these might help, especially on dark winter mornings.
