My hamster had babies, and unfortunatly, two are missing a leg. The mother got killed, due to the fact that my dog scared it to death, and at the moment, I have the babies in with my mother mouse, whom is nursing them just fine. One of the babies died the day her mommy did, so I only have one missing a leg. It looks like it was born that way, as it has a bit of a scab or something of the sort over the spot. They're about two weeks old, and the baby always ventures out of the nest, but I feel horrible when it falls on it's back, because it has slight difficulty getting up, but other than that, he interacts with the other's and nibbles on my hand like the others do. {It's missing it's left frount leg} Has anyone had this happen before? Do you think he'll turn out alright?

What a sad experience you have had

If your three legged hamster is thriving with Mommy mouse that is great news and quite exceptional

how he is going to manage when he is on solid foods i don't know
as hamsters use their front paws, to hold their food when they eat.

I really do hope he will adapt to his injury and live a happy comfortable life .
These tiny mammals are quite frail, but as he has survived for two weeks, he may well be OK !

He sounds a feisty little chap , just a bit disabled .

So long as the quality of his life, remains good ,he will do fine

If he is a Syrian hamster, ( teddy bear )
he will need to be put in a separate cage ,
AT (4 weeks ) his own cage
.
Hamsters do not like the company of other hamsters, and will fight even their brothers and sisters .
and he will also, be ready to breed at that age

Hamsters are solitary creatures in the wild .

Whatever you do ,never let a dog, have access to these small animals ,
at best ,they can stress them and you now know, what the worst scenario can be .

Good luck ,
i hope all your pets, including "Samson "
will be fit and well in your care

Oh, that's rare! But it's quite alarming. Meaning to say that due to pollution, there's a tendency that wierd things will happen with the babies inside their Mothers' womb.
You better video that 3-legged hamster. The submit it to the Guinnes Book of World Record (GBWR). Actually, 2 or 3 years ago, I heard over the radio that from one of our provinces, a pig gave birth to a two-headed piglet. But I do not know where to contact the owner at that time.
Try to submit it to GBWR.

that's high quality. i no some1 who had a hamster that had his leg caught in the cage cord and it became in effortless terms putting there my slightly pores and skin. later, her dad took the leg off and the hamster became only high quality.

He should be ok. I have heard of many animals that have a limb missing and they usually do great. :)
Have fun with your new special baby hamster :)

He will live, but he will have trouble walking and eating normally. You may need to help him, although I've no idea how...
