I usually spend 55 or 60 to my mum and dad 25 or 30 to my friends 35 to my brother. But if you're going to give a present to someone money isn't everything show her or him that you like her or him. Show her or him that you care about her or him.

Thousand???? Eeep no!!! A couple hundred maybe. I'm a clever little shopper and trek around to find the best presents at the best price. The word 'sale' usually gets me rummaging around a shop! Most of the money will go on my 7 year old daughter,of course!

Last Christmas, I had an agreement with all my closest friends that we were not giving each other presents and we were all happy that it worked. It took away a lot of the pre-Christmas pressure and saved everyone money. I think Christmas is too commercialized in the UK and let's encourage more people to spend less on useless presents. If you must buy presents, buy something that you know will be used, not the thoughtless, useless things that people bin as soon as they receive them.

My hubby and I spend in total on our 3 kids, 2 sisters, 2 nephews, 2 brothers in law, 1 mum and 1 dad about £1000. Our kids don't get spoilt we spend around £150 each on them including stocking fillers. Our nephews will get £30 each and we spend around £15 each on ours sisters and brothers in law and between £50 and £60 each on his mum and my dad. We don't buy for friends or friends children - we all agreed on this when we started having kids. We don't have a large income and don't feel pressured to spend a fortune either. Our kids are 8,5 and 2 they get more spent on their birthdays than at Xmas as they are spread out over the year. This year I bought most of my stuff on-line at Argos, Toys R Us and Amazon, Game and Play.com. I will be using Boots 3 for 2 for some extras as its a good deal and I get the points to spend on myself. Hubby and I spend around £50 on each other we don't feel that how much we spend reflects how much we care about each other and it shouldn't be seen as a measure of that. Our kids are more important at this time of year - they are only young, still believe in Santa and that's what is important to us right now - who wants to get into debt just to look like they spent more because they love their kids more.

Why is that sad? I never remember who got me what for xmas,or where it was from, its just nice to recieve something and its an expensive, stressfull time of year. I have to so many people to buy for including 7 kids (who arent even mine) and i come from a large family. I dont earn alot of money, but i do try the best i can!

I am still a student with a student's budget so I try to buy simple stuffs (cliche stuffs) as much as possible. But there's so many people I care about that I usually end up spending about $100 or so.... I always end up poor after christmas... sad.. haha.

too much, I was a spoilt kid, got tons of xmas presents and do the same for my kids too, keep getting told at work that my kids have too much, but hey its xmas and I love watching them open prezzies. For the rest of my family, brothers sisters, mum & dad I don't go over £20 per person.

you are the one thats sad for asking this question!! who cares where people shop. i hate the whole "labels" thing. if i see something that i think someone would like then i buy it regardless of where its from!! i dont really have set budgets, some years i spend loads and then others i dont! but then i dont have kids yet so i suppose xmas for me is cheaper than for most people!
