I like to see my percentage point increase.
The reason is probably the same as the reason the gold star method works in motivating kids not to wet their beds etc.
The down side is that my need for 'best answer' inhibits me (a bit) in putting forward ill thought out or flippant answers; because my percentage goes down.
As it is about to do once I hit 'submit'.

GETTING a "best answer" isn't important at all, because any idiot can GET their answer picked as best. EARNING a "best answer" rating is quite different. Either way, I just answer questions the best I can and if my answer is the best, great, but I won't lose any sleep over it if it's not.

well it really does not make any difference at all.. sometimes u just lucky and get the 'best answer' coz someone thinks that u are actually telling them what they have been trying to find....
