I have terrible back pain due to pregnancy and would like to have acupuncture. I have never had it before but am wondering, is it safe??

acupunture have to nothing with the pregnency it is just put some pressure on on ur nerves and vains which is related to to ur pain. having no side effect.

Yes. There was actually a feature on the news here recently about this. Make sure that the person you see knows what they are doing and everything is clean.

Massage therapy and chiropractic are also very good options. I saw MT through my pregnancy all three times and he alieviated most of the aches and pains of pregnancy for me. I think keeping my body in balance like that helped to make my labors easier too.

My wife had the same thing...the back pain. She pinched a nerve.
She actually got adjusted while she was pregnant. She had a very skilled and well known chiropracter that had done the procedeure before.

Acupuncture is also safe.

yes it is. It's becoming more and more popular as methods of relaxation and stress releif during pregancy. I have even heard of women having it during labour although I don't think they like you having it at this time due to all the moving around.
