For example:
The empowerment of women through feminism.

It means that as a result of a change affecting you, you go from having no power or feeling youhave none to having power (or to having or feeling you have just as much say/power as the average person does).

So empowerment can be in terms of voting & judicial rights; in terms of employment; in terms of how shy you feel; or in terms of social / friendship & ability to influence things factors

To empower a client is to offer information and knowledge so they can make informed decisions, assistance to access available resources and encourage them to make decisions regarding their issues.
