In my opinion, I believe they are about the same.
When you love someone, no matter what that love will remain. Nothing will ever change your feelings for that person. But then again, if you truely hate a person (which hate is a strong word), nothing in this world will make you change your mind. Those are two emotions that are hard to get rid of. Once you have them in your heart and soul, they are there to stay. So, I don't believe, in that sense, that they are any stronger than the other.
People always say good (love) conquers bad (hate). But in the sense of emotions, they butt heads. And remain in the same line. Remain right by each other until the very end.
Think about it...
(Remember - I'm talking about emotions, nothing else.)

I think that both emotions are equally strong. You can love someone so deeply as well as you can hate someone the same amount. It depends on how much love or hate you feel for someone. And both are equally hard to stop feeling

Hate.
Depends on persons though. If I hate someone, I would hate him for life and its not likely to change at all. It only increases over time. Love can change in its intensity.

neither, for they are not opposites. both require a great deal of devotion: you can spend just as much thought/energy loving someone as you can hating someone.

hate.................I have always said you can't hate someone unless you loved them. Hate is a very powerful and dangerous emotion.
