If it's confirmed that this is a pulled muscle, go out quickly and buy a tube of arnica gel, preferably A.Vogel or Roberts. These are the ones available at health shops and better chemists. I don't find the Weleda so effective.

As you rub it in to the pulled muscle the skin feels very cold and within five minutes there is quite a dramatic reduction of pain. Keep massaging it in a few times a day and the pain will go quicker than if arnica not used. Arnica gel is used by physios on sports injuries to muscles.

yes she should see a doctor. If she had it before and it has come and go several times on the same spot, it probably is a muscle inflammation. With medication the inflammation will be gone in about three days.... gl

Inflammations can be deceiving, at first you dont feel a thing until you make a certain move with your body. The pain can pull you down on the floor and make breathing difficult if its on the torso...

Best to see a doctor to confirm injury and for advice. Depending on the muscle she will be advised to keep mobile or rest. She will also be able to get better pain relief than is available over the counter. They can sometimes take a while to resolve themselves and others heal quite quickly

Any muscle pulled around the ribs can be very painful especially when breathing as you cannot avoid using these muscles. Take anti inflamatory painkillers and try get her to rest.

I recently got a 'frozen shoulder', the condition was extremely painful and as far as I am aware I did not do anything to bring it on. It lasted for nearly three weeks and the doctor prescribed anti-inflammatory piankillers. The human body is weird sometimes.
