mid 1888 to Braunau in Austria to get Adolf Hitler aborted. I might not change the whole history but saved a lot of people from suffering.

Just before WWII so I could assassinate Hitler before his rise to power. The go to Italy to do in Mussolini and Spain to take care of Franco. And let's not forget Mao in China and Hedeki Tojo in Japan.
But time travel is not possible or someone would have already done this. However, there is a theory out there that you can only travel back to the point where the machine was invented. So if the machine came into existence on say Jan 1st 12 am 2007 then you could only go back to that time or forward. You can't go back further because time travel is not possible. It is like being the only person with a telephone. If no one else has a phone you can't call anyone.
Or another thought I would go back to Dallas Nov 22 1963 and check out the book depository to see if Oswald really did it and try to stop it!

Why limit your imagination to a time machine? What about a molecular simulator? I think I would go back first to pre Civil war years and find a way to stop the upcoming aggressions and save all the lives. I would go to Israel in the days of Christ to witness things and talk with him. To have such knowledge would change the future of the world, don't you think?

The 1880's of the old west has always fascinated me,and also I think the 1930's in the United States pre WWII was an interesting time to live also.

I would go back to the day a friend of mine died because he couldn't get to the hospital on time. The rescue squad took too long to get to him. I would save his life by making sure he and I spent that day at the hospital.

Good question.
