It's called spotting and it does happen sometimes. If you are on the pill it could be that it is not strong enough for you. If you are not on the pill then don't worry about it, just buy some panty liners. Periods can range from 3 weeks apart to 5 weeks apart sometimes for no apparent reason even if you've been regular for ages. You say can stress make it happen? Probably not but if you are stressed then try not to make it worse by worrying about this - you'll be fine.

Yes. It's usually called spotting and stress can cause this, and it can cause you to miss a period too. Perfectly normal so don't worry about it. Though stress isn't terribly good for you, so take some deep breathes, make a list, scream into a pillow, eat some chocolate, or do whatever it is that makes you feel better.

Yes, stress can bring on spotting/breakthrough bleeding...
"...we also see women who get more than one period in the span of a month. The causes for this are relatively unknown, but stress and lifestyle seem once again to play a major role."

This depends on each person. Stress can make a period come later, or it could make it come much later. Like me, I have experienced late periods that come after many months. Eating the wrong food such as lack of nutrition could also cause period to come later. But if it comes earlier, it could also be due to drinking of cold drinks too often or such reasons.. I have heard them from many relatives.. oh. I studied it before too=)

Not usually. Stress is a notorious cuplrit for late periods and pregnancy scares rather than an inducer. Spotting a week before is pretty normal however.

Could just be a bit of breakthrough spotting - its not unusual and has no particular cause. It can be hormonal or due to the pill you take or forgetting to take one. Stress usually has the opposite effect and can cause periods to stop altogether

Stress can certainly affect your periods, sometimes stopping them sometimes just changing the cycle. Some women bleed a tiny bit when they ovulate mid-cycle. If you continue to have irregular bleeding see your doctor.

If stress brought on periods they would never be over! It can however mess up your schedule. If anything else happens, go to doc asap.
