1. Be respectful and courteous towards him or her and your fellow classmates.

2. Do your work and never refuse to participate in class.

3. Once in a while, let your teacher know that you truly enjoyed WHAT he or she taught you that day and HOW the material was presented.

I know exactly how you are feeling; I'm the same way. If you really want to participate then keep raising your hand and eventually you will be able to say your answer without any trouble, it just takes some practice. But on the other hand if you just want to listen and not really take part in discussions then that's ok too. That's how I was. As long as you are a good student and answer when you are called on then you don't have to voluntarily answer questions. Everyone learns differently, and I benefited from listening to discussions.

Dear Maaida,

do have some confidence in yourself. Even if you are to make a mistake, face it. Everyone make mistakes. A good teacher will not reprimand you for a wrong answer but instead will guide you through. Teachers asks questions because they need to check your understanding on a particular subject. If you do not answer, your teacher will think that you do not understand and thus leave with a different impression of your. So Maaida, be brave. Who knows that the answers that you provide are correct. That would surely give a good impression of you. And even if your answer is wrong, I believe that you teacher will still be impressed - Impressed with your thirst for learning and willing to try attitude.

So, what's your choice?

Regards,
A teacher.

Show her/ him that you appriciate the fact that they are standing up there trying to better your life !! Pay attention and act mature. Set an example for the other kids and don`t worry if they rag on you for acting right and trying, Because one day you will be their BOSS and they will be making minimum wage and you won`t.
TRUST me on this!!! Once you get out of high school LIFE changes, all the COOL people arn`t cool anymore, they automatically become the ignorant ones and the so called (NERDS) They succede in life and get rich doing it.

Your problem sounds like shyness. Put it in your head that you are there for you , for your future. . Don`t care what anybody else thinks. Go for it and after a while you`ll see it gets easy and you`ll build up your confidence. SELF ESTEEM IS WHAT IT`S ALL ABOUT..

Admit it! When you are called on, take a deep breath and say, " Oh I get nervous when I have to answer". Then take a deep breath and say the right answer. This tells your teacher that you are shy and the teacher will be more patient with you. Its like when you forget someones name. The best thing to do is tell them and they will say it again.

I think you have a confidence problem. It seems you are smart enough to know the answer, but not comfortable to speech pubicly. You should practice public speech, preferrable by forcing yourself to raise your hand, or even participate in speech competitions. I have seen a lot of ppl able to overcome this problem.

take a deep breath beforehand...don't stress out because it only makes things worse. I used to be a teacher and I would really feel bad for the people that wouldn't speak up.....

Be confident...once you've answered a couple of questions, the rest will be easy....relax and good luck...you can do it!

Do your work and participate in class. The more you do it, the more comfortable you will be with it. Just find a way to get past the first couple of times.
