Im not saying were all the same...we're all individuals with our own unique qualities.
I just dont understand how anyone can think it's logical to actually "think" they are superior. We're all imperfect...
btw...
No animosity, just curiosity :)

I appreciate all of your answers. They are very insightful. But for the most part my perception of the world is clearly a little "different". I think we are all born to live great lives, we have wonderful gifts to attribute to this world. I think some just dont realize their gifts so their categorized as "inferior", when It's clearly not true. Money and Fame doesnt equal superiority and success by my standards...Every human being is an equal...but this is just my point of view. I look at everyone as equals. I gues "some" don't. I'm perfectly fine with that. I was just curious as to what the majority of society thinks about this topic.

I think we all have different viewpoints as to what success is. I'm not trying to knock down anyone who does great things in their lifetime. I plan to do great things in my lifetime by my standards. Like I said before we ALL have great qualities. So I dont understand the person who "thinks" they are superior. It doesnt make sense. We're all here for a reason IMO...we're all great...we're all equal...no one is inferior...That's all I'm trying to point out lol

We are all more alike than we are different, nevertheless we are different and range in age, wisdom, experience, education, social status, financially, intelligence etc...We live in a world that is unfair in many respects. Many people lack spirituality and connection to a higher power. A higher power who teaches tolerance, kindness, acceptance, forgiveness and grace.

God is merciful and loving and by far greater than we could ever be. Yet in our ways we don't always acknowledge our higher power - and without us living or trying to live noble and honorable lives according to the good book, we fall short. Not to be all preachy, but I wanted to try and help you understand that man ( human beings ) are not perfect instead we are sinful and we can be prideful souls, arrogant, mean and hurtful - but I tell you this - any person who knows God will always make great efforts some more than others to treat his fellow human being --with respect.

Most people fall short in their character ( no one man has arrived ) for many reasons other than spiritual as well, it could be the upbringing that person had. It could be that person is miserable and they may find validation by putting others down - ignorance, intolerance, lack of compassion for others - I have seen it all and it has made me struggle to be tolerant of them - lol -

Communicating to the person directly who is making you feel uncomfortable may help. Maybe that person doesn't realize how he/she is coming across. If you prefer to keep it to yourself then come to a resolve about how to handle such behavior and move on, not letting it effect you.

Whenever I have been offended or mistreated cause it happens and has happened in the past. I expect people to respect me but at the same time I expect to deal with different personalities which you will find in school, in the workplace or with family or friends.

If you are a minority woman in this country be prepared cause discrimination, and superiority happens Just remember that you are not responsible for the actions of others -- you are only responsible for your own and the way you respond is key.

Those who are arrogant and show superiority have been conditioned and trained to behave this way. They lack knowledge and may be very ignorant and others in their circle or life has been modeled a bad example for them somewhere and somehow - but that's they're problem - extend some grace if you can to people like that ( remember we are all imperfect people ) -- cause a person who truly respects and love himself will always show others the same -- remember that...

As a Floridian I do become aware of this and appreciate that now not seating the delegates is the correct factor. Political events are personal associations, their regulations don't seem to be dictated through the Constitution. Florida and Michigan broke the principles; must they quite get off that handy? In addition, additionally it is what's reasonable. Neither applicants have been allowed to crusade in both state and Obama's title was once now not even at the Michigan poll. Barack is NOT stealing someone's vote. He has taken the equal function that he has consistently had, (uncover some way with a revote that's reasonable or do not seat the delegates) that's the equal function Hillary took earlier than Obama went on a 12-zero win streak. This vitimization bs is simply one other political recreation that diverts us from the truly problems. I simply wish individuals do not emerge as unaware of intent in all this insanity. Do you've the audacity to pray?

Striving to be superior is one of the key components of the human ambition. It's integral to our dominance as a species, and also a very important self preservation mechanism, garnered from prehistory when the strong survived at the expense of the weak. If nobody felt the need to rise above the crowd, we'd have no sports, no economy, no technoligy, no literature and no culture. We'd probably still be picking berries from trees and living in caves.

This touchy feely notion of pan-equality is just pretty words. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice idea, but it will never, EVER, be fully realised. We're just not built that way, no matter how hard people might try to convince themselves.

The need for superiority is a very natural thing. Humans are animals. And like all living animals we must compete for partners, land, and food. That's basically what our entire civilization boils down to. It's so nice to think everyone's equal but we're not. That's just a fantasy. If we were all equal there would be absoloutley no conflict in the world, there would be no need for it. And conflict is the root of all entertainment and excitment in the world (it's true, think about anything that entertains you; there's always some sort of conflict involved in it somewhere) . We are not all equal.

Hard to answer.

Firstly we are not born equal. Through complete luck I was a fertilised egg in the first world. People have different skills, talents and problems. It is what you do with your lot in life that gives you the right to feel superior. Feeling great about yourself because you were born rich or beautiful is false pride.

It is also pathetic to try to knock people down because they have put effort in to become more competent or talented. Do we say an elite athlete is arrogant if she wants to win a race? Why shouldn't we respect more the opinions who spend years mastering a body of knowledge?

there is an innate biological imperative to survive and being better facilitates this more than being inferior. those creatures that have this drive eventually persist over those who do not and pass the trait on to progeny in their genes.
Thus most people, who are derived over millenia from such surviving creatures, exhibit this trait more or less according to their genes. Some few have it less due to random chance and perhaps just good luck to be here despite the fact they come from creatures that had it less than others.
Some people do not realize that we are all equals because they are intelligent and can see with their own eyes that it is not true. Others insist on this fiction as it is comforting and sounds real good in a constitution.
These are the facts and I hope you can suck it up and deal dude.

We all want to be special. But if everyone is special, no one would really be special. Hence, people always want to be considered more superior even if they don't say it or act it they think it subconsciously. It is the idea that we deserve more or should not be subject to less. It is the notion that those that are more 'special' is entitled to more. It comes from mans sense of insecurity and fear of rejection. We are all equal, but as long as more money means higher respect or social acceptance, there will always be those that wants to be superior.

2006-11-16 23:20:23 · answer #7 · answered by Antas17 3 · 1 1

Insecurity is the basic reason given by many on this. It probably comes from the same instincts that are now suppressed in the human mannel. For example, we're no longer able to fight each other to prove dominance for a mate or territory-well normally. So we do this at times more subtly with words and manner.

I don't think that we are all equal. I mean, some of us are superior in certain areas. Excel in certain areas. Some us also do not excel. You may be good at one thing that I suck at, and vice versa. I think the way we relate to each other is the main thing. Are you meaning people who are arrogant? To me, that's the funny thing. Arrogant people always get it in the end.

the only thing that makes someone superior is the way he acts with people if he acts in a superior way this means the he is not.
it comes with the personality.
they are raised that way.
me like you hope that we are all the same.
but being all the same is not a good thing at the end because then we wont be able to find our most love ones.
