Yes , it is also very common if you are very thin. Also this could be a sign of pvc's,pac's and palpitations. With these problems you may also experience skipping, and pounding.

I agree with Star Luvy, it depends on what you are doing,if you are exercising or are stresses etc, adrenaline and other factors can cause your heart to beat faster and stronger so that you may notice it thumping against your chest wall, but if you are inactive and calm, I don't think it is quite normal, to feel your heart beat throughout your chest. If it comes and goes then maybe you have an arrhythmia (irregular heart rate) where the heart is pumping fast but not really being very efficient at moving your blood around the body. do you feel faint when this happens? See a doctor for a closer look.

well it depends
how fat are you ?
skinny ppl can feel their heart beat when they place their hands on their chest, for fatter ppl it is difficult to palpate the heartbeat
if you feel you heart beat without using your hands, that is called palpitations, commonly felt when exxercising
having palpitations ever so often is normal
if you find u have it several times a day without any real exercise then it is possible that be you are suffering from heart disease, a heart defect or anxiety or something else.
depends on your other symptoms
but then it depends on ya age to determine if it's a birth defect or from heart disease

i have one idea for u This Cold & Flu Bath/bubble bath has wonderful vapors that helped clear my sinuses and my chest. I could breath again. It helped me also with aching joints when I have to be on my feet a lot.
