DEMATERIALISATION OF SHARES
For Dematerialisation of shares, an account with Depository Participant(DP) is required to be opened in the style in which the shares are held.

On opening an account with Depository Participant(DP), the Share Certificates along with duly filled in Demat Request Form are to be submitted to Depository Participant(DP) for dematerialisation.

Depository Participant(DP) will electronically advise Depository,

i. details of shares lodged for demat and
ii.forward the Demat Request Form & Share Certificate to the Share Transfer Agents (M/s Datamatics Financial Software & Solutions Ltd.) for cancellation of share certificates in physical form and crediting the shares with Depository Participant(DP) .

Demat is the short form of Dematerialisation of equity shares.. Dematerialisation means the equity shares of the companies are not physically delivered but they get credited to your any Depository Participant (DP) who can be any bank, any brokererage house or any registrar once you buy from the stock market. DP means Depository participant who handles your electronic shares in its account. And you will be its client.

demat a/c means dematerialized a/c........if someone buys shares of any company than he gets an option of getting shares in physical or non physical form....that is either get shares in the form of certificates or in non physical form that is in one's demat a/c that is being stored electronically in any of the depository stated........NSDL , HSBC , STANCHART etc which have come into being after the passage of the National securities depository bill in 1996.......
