I need to repaint my exterior doors. First I have to sand them They're panelled doors, so I need a sander which will go into and around the panels. Can anyone tell me which sander would be best for this job?

If your door has flaking or pealing paint that needs sanded to feather the edges, almost any small orbital sander will work. You can scuff up the contoured parts by hand.
If you are planning to remove all the old finish you should consider a paint remover. Then you may need a detail sander for the contoured parts.
Sometimes it's easier to just jump in and do things the manual way, apposed to looking for an easy way out. Good Luck

I've had good luck with the Black and Decker Mouse sanders; they have a point that will save you some time... but I've never used a power sander that doesn't TRY to take some extra wood if it can; best to use the manual method to get in the nice bumpies next to the panels.. I've found a pencil or wood dowel to be an effective form to wrap the sandpaper around.

the new black N decker hand sander/ orbiter works really well on sanding old paint off or get craftsman sander so if it goes out you can go back to where you bought it for a new 1 cause craftsman has lifetime warrenty on it

Palm sanders are small and are unique in that they are inexpensive and easy to use. They vibrate and are good for small projects like yours. You can go to Wal-Mart, Home Depot or Lowes and buy one for as little as $14.00 ask the sales person which one would be best for the job your doing and the type of paper your going to need.
