How long it takes to be told in not a good measurement, words are cheep, some men say it the moment they meet you.
What is important and meaning-full is how long before they show you they love you, and I don't mean that they want sex. True Love is about allot more then physical attraction.
Have you never heard a male walk up to a perfect stranger and say to her " Lay Down, I think I love you!"
I think that old phrase says it all, Hold on for him to show you Love and Respect before you jump in with both feet!
Otherwise you will get your heart broken many more times then need be in life.

My boyfriend told me exactly 2 weeks after we started dating. It was just as it turned midnight on new years eve/January 1st morning and we were at a new years party he stared into my eyes and held me and said "I love you" and I said it back. I'd known him for a few months we'd been pretty close friends for about a month and then we started dating.
It sounds stupid and early I know but we'd fallen absolutely head over heels in love. We've been together for 2 years next month and we're still very much in love. I think you can fall in love in the early stages of a relationship, it's just not as deep as the love of an older relationship. Love grows and matures over time.
As my boyfriend and I learned more about each other and became closer as a couple our love grew stronger and deeper.

It is hard to tell, Maybe he loved you within a month of knowing you, but he was not sure you loved him back, or he was not sure you would accept it from him. After 6 months he was sure
1- He really loved you since the feeling has been with him for the past 4 months and it was not a passing thing
2- You would accept it form him
3- You loved him back.
Me, it took about the same time to reach the "I Love you" Part"

My now fiance told me he loved me about 5 months into our relationship. I was getting ready to leave the country for a few months and he told me he loved me about 3 weeks before i left. It made us both happy because i had something important to look forward to, coming home to somebody who loves me deeply.
So to answer your question it can very much be true that he loves you. Just think about what exactly you feel about him, do you feel the same way? Ask him when he realized he fell in love with you and what makes him feel that way.
Good luck with everything!

the time it takes to love someone is really unmeasurable. my first love in college told me he loved me after 2 weeks of being together. I thought he was crazy at first but a couple months later i realized i had the same feelings, and we were in love for 2 years.

he said he fell in love when he first saw me. we worked together for 2 years admiring eachother from a distance we never said a word to eachother but secretly both liked eachother. We finally started talking and hanging out. he said the first night out together (2days after we started talking) he was in love. Been together ever since.
