My son has been on a routine since about 2 months! He has consistantly slept though the night until now. (Yes I was very lucky!) He just started waking up about every half hour or 40 minutes, doesn't want me to put him down and wants to feed and feed. I am pretty sure he is getting his top teeth and is about due for a growth spurt. I have tried Tylenol and Baby Orajel. Is there anything I can do to help us both get some rest?

Maybe he is going through a growth spurt and needs the calories and the teeth coming in are bothering him- so - you will have to go with it= humphries - baby tablets may help- it is amazing that the baby slept through before- that is a BIG WOW!! D

do not let your baby cry it out as the previous poster suggest. the idea that a child knows how to get you up and to come hold them all night and would do this at 7 months is silly. seriously your child probably is having a growth spurt particularly if baby just wants to eat. they eat lots of calories in the first year because they typically and are suppose to double their birth weight. Or yoru baby could be teething and is having trouble sleeping. as a parent it is your responsibility to comfort your child. also 7 months is not even in the recommended time for those that think crying it out is okay... crying it out is suppose to be for children over 9 or 10 months old. although this still is out dated parenting advice as crying it out has been found to be unhealthy to baby... read this here http://www.askdrsears.com/html/10/handout2.asp
read some more stuff by doctor sears on putting children to sleep he has some better ideas than letting a baby scream for 45 minutes. that is just neglectful.

I have had this problem with all four of my kids and found a solution. Its hard to do, but it works. My kids are grown now, and since they've been kids I've seen shows like Oprah and Dr.Phil have shows on subj. like this with solutions like I'm going to share with you.

There isn't anything wrong with your son, worthy of getting everyone up every 40 min. Think about it, what baby wouldn't want to be held all night and suck on a warm bottle of milk, and your son has figured out how to get you to come and get him and do this!

When you think about it there is no reason he shouldn't stay in bed as long as he isn't drowning in a wet diaper or burning up from a high fever, right? So, once you put him into his crib for the night you have to leave him there and let him cry it out, and since he's used to getting up so often you will have to endure a few nights of loud crying and screaming bcz he is going to get pissed when he figures out that you're not playing the game anymore and it will get worse before it gets better.

Don't go into his room unless you think he's hurt. He can cry for 45 min without a problem, and cry himself to sleep. Its ok to check his diaper in the middle of the night, but don't take him out of his crib. And if he is teething, there's nothing you can do for him other than give him childrens tylenol. Holding him doesn't help right now. His thing right now is he is running you ragged.

You need your sleep to be a good mom. He may have his days and nights mixed up??? I'm pretty confident that if you'd try this for one week your home would be back to normal.

WHAT'S ONE WEEK?

Not really - it might be the teeth or separation anxiety or his stomach, you never know with a baby. Ask his pediatrician anyway before giving him any medication. If its the teeh, chilled theeters (filled with water) are excellent. Above all, exercise patience and relaxing activities, babies do feel any tension around them and respond accordingly.
