Yes stress can cause hair loss. The best way of dealing with it is to find the source of the stress and then find ways to combat it.
Diet is very important, drink plenty of water as stress causes a build up of toxic waste and the water helps flush the toxins out.
A brisk 15 minute walk every day can also help to aleviate stress levels.
I'm a reflexologist and have found that stress is the biggest problem that people have today.

ABSOLUTELY!!

My parents went through a wicked divorce and custody battle when I was 12 and I developed a "bald" spot about the size of a quarter on the top of my head. The dermatologist that I knew told me that the only time he had seen this before was on soldiers with "battle fatigue" during the Viet Nam war. An injection of some steroid (I'm sorry but I don't remember the name) solved the problem, but stress can definitely cause hair loss!!!

Alapecia nervosa is usually aggrivated (although I don't think it's caused) by stress.
Try not to worry as this is obviously a catch-22 situation. It can be normal to lose quite a lot of hairs, which is very noticable if you have long hair. Try to judge by what's on your head rather than what you see on your pillow or in the plughole. If you develop bald patches larger than, say, a 10p piece, you should visit your doctor to discuss it.

Jocko's wife here. Stress usually will grow more hair. Have you ever noticed small hairs that grow around your hairline on your forehead. They are a sign that you have been in some sort of stress. Hair only has a life span of seven years before the folicle dies and the hair falls out. Don't be to concerned about it. However if you are go and see your hairdresser to reassure you.

Yes it can. But when your stress it gone, your hair can come back. Also, poor diet, smoking, drinking too much and irregular sleeping pattern can cause hair loss. Try to eat healthy food, have a good night sleep, cut down smoking if you can't stop, and try to relax. Ah, and you have to keep your scalp clean as well, it's important.

Stress can do these things I think alpecia is one of the forms stress can take which means people get bald patches.

It would be worth a visit to the Doctor

Yeh it can, but the change of weather/central heating can also makes you malt a bit more, so try not to worry too much about it. If it carries on though go and see your doctor just in case.
