Hmm, for an inner ear infection my mom used to put a clove of garlic in our ear. It was supposed to draw out the infection somehow. I had inner ear infections a lot as a child, and it always helped the pain if I put a hot water bottle (or rice sock, made by putting about 2 cups of rice in a clean tube sock, tying the end and heating it up in the microwave for a few minutes) over my ear. Colloidal silver was another remedy that she used (taken orally) on my siblings; zinc, goldenseal, Echinacea, and vitamin C are all helpful for ear infections. You can get these at most larger drug stores or discount stores and the recommended dosages are on the bottles.

Good luck, I hope you feel better soon!

For the inner ear you need to see a doctor to get antibiotics. They will either give you amoxicillin or levaquin depending on the location and severity of the infection.

(Note: Should you have the option of amoxicillin or levaquin get amox. because levaquin is $80.00 a bottle)

You can go get eardrops, MAKE SURE they say that they are approved to work WITH antibiotics.

Also take ibuprofen or Motrin as needed (up to 600 mg recommended).

Lie on your side with the affected ear pointing up. Fill the ear canal with hydrogen peroxide and allow it to sit for about 5 minutes. Flush it out with warm, sterile water. Then lie down again and fill the canal with several drops of sweet oil and allow it to sit for 10 minutes or so. Flush it out with warm sterile water. This should help to disinfect the ear canal, and the sweet oil is both soothing and antimicrobial. Should help you get rid of the infection quicker. Do it several times a day.

My doc prescribed a solution of hydrocortisone and VINEGAR. The drops cleared the swelling and infection right up.
