I have a combination boiler (I think) and our shower doesn't go hot - the other hot taps in our flat turn the hot water on (you can hear the boiler fire up), but the shower doesn't. It used to! And the pressure is lower than it was too. Any simple answers for a non-plumber?

I should have said, is there a simple solution that doesn't involve calling a plumber as I am stony, stony broke! Fully expecting the answer no :(

I forget this is international! Excuse my Brit-isms. I live in an apartment which is part of a big converted house. I haven't done anything, but my neighbours may have done, and there was also a burst water main just down my road a few days ago which could have mucked up the plumbing in my area?

Talk to the water Co. A decrease in mains pressure can affect the combo boiler since it relies on pressure differential drop to know an outlet is opened to switch on the boiler. Since your taps provide a greater opening, it may be why they still provide sufficient drop and its sensible to consider things you know may have changed. The water Co may try to tell you the pressure shouldn't affect the boiler but drastic changes may.

Also make sure everything is good on the shower, head clean, pipe not kinked (they can be kinked inside without too much visible so try the shower without it connected)

It is possible you received some contaminents from the water main repair, although if everyone else is ok in your building, then it would probably be smart to call out a plumber.

I would unscrew the shower head and turn it over to see if there is any thing stopping up the spray nozzle. That would tell you if you have debris in your line.

Yes. Call a plumber.

Unless you've recently done something, some kind of repair, or what you saying is you live in an apartment? or a condo? explain yourself please.
Someone did something, this doesn't just happen. Check around, your landlord, another tenant or ? than come back and let us know?

you need to check and see if you have a leak somewhere in that line or if it is plugged . if you have galvanized pipes they will plug up from from electrolysis and may need to be replaced and or cleaned out if it's where you can get to it
