i opened my e-mail this morning to discover that some 'silly' (that's me being polite) person had reported me to yahoo for no good reason. i've always been brought up to believe that if u ask a daft question, then u should expect a daft answer, so considering the idiotic question he'd asked, he should have expected to get at least one answer that told him that he was being daft. i was very polite, and didn't swear, so why should these people get away with wasting the yahoo services people's time complaining about other yahoo users who are simply pointing out that they're asking pointless questions? i agree that some people need reporting - the ones who swear or are generally nasty in their answers, but i think that this is going too far. do these people have no sense of humour ?!? i personally think that they should have points deducted off them for wasting yahoo's time. what are your experiences with this ?

lol - no rachey, i won't report u for swearing - it takes a lot more than that to upset me... and to the other people who said that i shouldn't let it bother me; i know u are right, but i get really sick of idiots who try to screw things up for other people... thanks everyone for your kind words and support - nice to know i'm not alone with this problem. x

Some people have nothing better to do. *Sigh*.

I agree people who are click-happy with the report-u button should lose points. And no, I don't think many people who ask stupid questions on here have a sense of humour.

I've been reported over nothing as well and still can't understand the "logic" in it all. Ah well. What can ya do. *rolls eyes*

If you hang around long enough on YA, it's going to happen. People are (as you said) just DAFT. They will report for no reason whatsover, other than because "they can". I got reported once for the reason "Not an answer". The question was gibberish and nonsensical and I said I really wanted to help but needed more information. There were hateful answers that didn't reply to the question, yet they remained, while my request for more information was deleted.

Don't take it to heart or be offended, just know those are the rules of the game here on YA. Tread lightly, as you just never know who you are going to offend.

I think some people think that the report abuse option is there to be used if they simply do not like or agree with the comment! (That is what the 'thumbs down' is there for!)
I have had an answer reported as a violation recently, yet it contained no bad language or abuse, but it was critical of a political party (The question had invited people's opinion of this party, so the answer was perfectly valid)
What irritates me is that Yahoo seem to make no effort to establish if their rules are really being violated! That means 'silly' people, as you call them, are empowered to effectively sabotage the whole forum!

stupid i agree. and yet there are people who use this site just so they can post derogatory racist, sexist and homophobic abuse- and still these people don't get violation notices, which is not just ridiculous but absurd. in fact, yahoo! ought to notify to us people receiving violation notices for this and to punish people who do offend others, rather than for them to dish them out to people like yourself who did nothing wrong. the 'three strikes and you're out' rule should be adopted and people should be banned from using this site for being abusive, threatening other users on answers and other serious breaches.

i also agree that if the question isn't of a serious nature, then the answer shouldn't be of a serious nature, but at the same time, it doesn't intend to offend or abuse others, particularly the person who originally posted the question.

i wouldn't worry about things such as this; people like them are a waste of space and yes its hard not to take things so personal because of another person's actions and besides, you're not going to jail for this anyway.

It is relative to power and control issues. Small people in small lives see it as an opportunity to exercise power over another – something their life lacks. It does not have to be prudent, and they can anonymously (in a cowardly manner) influence another adversely. With that said, I would refrain from mentioning that such things bother you – lest you attract others of undesirable ilk. And in the end, remember that nothing that happens here in the ethereal world of YA is of any consequence whatsoever. Have a nice day – and may all your thumbs be 'up!'

You can't please everybody - so expect some Buttholes to be here! Afterall, this is open to millions of people and the World is full of MORONS! Just keep your head up and move on - and forget about the "violation emails!" I get them everyday - and I dispute EVERY one! So, just respond to Yahoo and you'll be fine - and will last a long time!

i dunno mate, but i understand your frustration, i ask a question about an address/number for eBay because some c+nt was trying, and i mean really trying, to sabotage my account.
some wanker reported to the ebayer i was complaining about that i was having a go at him over yahoo answers! and it gave that particular ebayer more reason to have another week trying to bully me off ebay.
needless to say he indeed failed miserably!
but i don't understand why people get kicks out of it.
still, i just laugh at those people at the bottom of the food chain, and think you should to hon.
