Personally, I agree whoever wants to user nuclear technology, as long as for civilian purpose, like electricity, because almost 60% part of the world are shortage in energy. But the problem is, the government is using it to produce nuke bomb instead of for their people.

India wants Nuclear because its enemy, Pakistan, is doing the same, US helps India because they have the same interest, I have read some articles about it in BBC.

I only worry for one thing, the waste, France threw its nuclear waste to Pacific Ocean, I couldn't imagine what will happen, if all countries do the same.

Nuclear power is not 'wholly owned' by US or any other organisation/government etc. Thus, your term 'giving India' is apparently not suitable for a constructive argument. However, as it is known, although since treaty in 1947 if im not mistaken, India has proved to be decent with their nuclear researches and has been co-orperative in providing their arsenal statistics. We can conclude that nuclear power will be handled responsibly by the Indian government, but it is also known that as far as the corruption is concerned, India lists at the tops. As the saying one bad apple will spoil the entire basket, if at all a civil servant with access to these technologies got greedy and plan to steal and sell it to their counterpart (that will be either pakistan terrorists or any of the sri lankan political parties), that my friend, will spell disaster big time.

End of the day, it is more of an ethical issue than political on whether India should be granted permission/support by UN regarding nuclear technologies. We wont want to hear India been attacked by parties/countries whom acquire the tech from India itself.

Peace.

Yes, India is a mature Democracy and not like any 3rd world country under a dictator. They have already made the nukes, so even if they are denied they will develop it on their own ..like they did while developing nuke weapons in 1970s.

yes why not???
in this age of development every nation is developing.
US has alredy developed a lot.
why not they give a chance to other nations also.
india has never proved to support terrorism.in fact its neighbouring country pakistan supports terrorism and always disturbs india just to stop its economic development.
a german based magazine has just published an article about india and there it states that in its 1000 years of history india never supported terrorism.

No. The country is technically our enemy, and with Pakistan, the country most likely to use it. The country is also politically unstable. If the country breaks apart, lord knows who might have it next.
