LED LCDs are just like typical CCFL LCDs in most regards. The difference is the light source is LED based instead of CCFL based. This allows LED LCDs to deliver more vivid colors, truer blacks, and deeper contrast. Additionally, they can be thinner profile TVs, weigh less, and consume less electricity. Currently the LED LCD is the top of the line option in the LCD technology. Sony XBR 8/10 Samsung Series 9/Series LED LG LH90/SL90 Sharp Aquos 700 series Those are all LED lines from the top manufacturers.
