You have to rely on your family members, for one thing, until you get a new set of friends. You also have to put yourself out there, in places where you can meet people who have your same interests. In other words, you have to begin replacing friends who had once been close confidant to you with other people.
One thing you might try is to keep a journal -- even a computerized version -- and write things down that you want to discuss with your friends if they were there for you.
Those of us reading your post can empathize with you -- don't think that we do not. Sometimes friends become so close that they almost become like brothers and sisters to us -- and when these friendships fade, it is like losing a family member.
Good luck now.

if you really want to completely cut off contact with them, somethign that works for me is to write notes to yourself when you REALLY feel that you dont want to be in contact with them anymore (like now, it seems like, since youre asking this question.) for example, so that i dont pick up the phone when my ex-boyfriend calls, i programmed him under "do NOT answer". it helps. i havent pick it up once since i programmed it 2 months ago...however, i did go through a period of time when i was talking to him when, in the back of my mind, i knew i shouldnt be. its tough to break away from people that were important to you at one time.....sometimes it takes trial and error. next time you want to talk to the, think back to this time when you really didnt want to talk to them. I also have lost 2 best friends and i cant help from thinking about them, even though i will never be their friend again, and probably never talk to them again.....you may not ever be able to FORGET them, but you can keep them out of your life as much as possible but forcing yourself to not see or speak with them.

substitute calling a real friend you like now for calling a non-friend who you don't like anymore. or leave your phone at home and go out and do something.
