my girlfriend left a small pumpkin in my fridge with the words 'i love you' on it.

the situation is what makes it romantic. we had met in Asia where i worked and spent a few wonderful weeks together. i was calling her my little pumpkin from very early on. when i took her to the airport for her flight home, i was in a dreadful state and she seemed much more together than me. i didn' know if we'd see each other again, or if she cared about me. her parting words were for me to go back to my hotel and enjoy a drink from my fridge. i waved goodbye, cried as i watched her plane take off and felt so sorry for myself as the taxi took me back to the hotel.

i didn't open the fridge straight away, but looked at some of our photos and watched some tv. finally when i did open the fridge there was a little orange pumpkin with her message on it. i laughed and cried and felt so happy. it was the best thing ever.

I was home watching TV and the doorbell rang.
I knew it was my boyfriend George but I was so absorbed on what I was watching that I opened the door without facing at him, but kept looking at the TV.
I left the door open for him to enter and returned quickly to the couch without even having checked if it was actually him (you know it could be some psycho killer...)
After a couple of seconds, I realized he wasn't entering and I turned around to see what was going on.
I saw him standing on the porch looking sooooo disappointed, holding a huge teddy bear in his arms...
The romantic thing isn't the gesture itself or the bear. The romantic thing is that this (amazingly ugly) teddy bear was a gift that his aunt had brought him from America when he was like...5 years old...
It was so sweet, and suddenly the bear didn't seem so ugly anymore...
