Your AVG anti virus is not really going to expire. It is just that Girsoft (the company that makes it) have just came out wit a new version and they are not supporting the old version any more.
The new version is 7.5 and they are stopping supporting 7.0 because they do not was to be running two versions of the free software.
If you go to the AVG site there is a link to download the new version and then you can continue with the free anti virus

Active Virus Shield
http://www.activevirusshield.com
It uses the Kaspersky bases so walks all over the likes of AVG, Avast! etc in terms of detection rates.

Download AVG 7.5; its still free.
At some point they have to integrate all the updates into the program and they re-issue it as a new program, thats all.

What do you mean, 'free anti-virus about to expire'? Free anti-viruses are free for life time, they don't expire. I think you have got the trial version of AVG Professional; You can download AVG 'Free' from the following link and it won't expire:

Kaspersky Internet Security is the better that Norton and Zone labs combined , the only thing i don't like about kaspersky is the full system scan takes up to 10 hours (may vary) but it catches every one them trojans, spyware and adware , its like $60 for 1 full year or something , give it a try..

The best one that I have found, and free to boot, is Avast. I have not had any problems with it finding viruses, or working with other programs on my computer. I searched and tried many programs, but this one is the best by far.
