Required:
How many kg of Cebu and La Union Grapes to get a mixture of 200kg at a price of $98/kg
Solution:
Let x be the kg of Cebu grapes
y be the kg of La Union grapes
x + y = 200
x = 200 - y - - equation 1
80(x)+110(y) = 200(98)
80x + 110y = 19600 - - equation 2
Substitute equation 1 in 2
80(200-y) + 110y = 19600
16000 -80y +110y = 19600
30y = 19600-16000
30y = 3600
y = 120 kg
Therefore solving for x in equation 1
x = 200- 120
x = 80kg
The answer is you will need 80kg of Cebu grapes and 120kg of La Unio grapes to come up with a mixture of 200kg that will sell to $98/kg. The answer in the selection is d.

i dont know if there is a formula for this, but i just tried every one
multiply the # kilos of grapes x the price for that type of grape
add the total price together, then divide by 200
a. 115* $80/kilo = $9200
85 * $110/kilo = $9350
(9200 + 9350) = 18550/200 = $92.75/kilo incorrect
b. 115*$110/kilo = 12,650
85 * $80/kilo = 6,800
6800 + 12650 = 19450/200 = $97.25/kilo incorrect
c. 80*$110/kilo = 8800
120 * 80/kilo = 9600
8800+9600=18400/200 = $92/kilo incorrect
d. 80*80/kilo = 6400
120 *110/kilo=13200
6400+13200=19600/200= $98
the answer is d.

let him mix x kig. of Cebu grapes with 200-x kg of La union grapes.According to the problem
80x+110(200-x)=98X200
8ox+22000-110x=19600
=> -30x=19600-22000=-2400
=>x=2400/30=80
So he mixed 80 kg of Cebu grapes with 200-80 or 120 kg of La Union grapes.

1. (kilos of cebu grapes x price)
2. (kilos of la union grapes x price)
add the figures you get for 1 & 2
divide by 200
