Is life in America easier if your a pretty white girl?

Before you bash the question, I just want to say that I'm not trying to be immature like some people are when asking things like this. I'm really just looking for sincere answers. Not, "how dare you ask, people are people" or some empty statement like that.

I ask because from what I've observed living my whole life here, that pretty white girls seem to have an easier time overall. They're never lonely, they can always find a handsome boyfriend. There's always girls who want to be them so they hang out and be their friend. They usually have many strong friendships with other girls who look, sound, & act like them. They have strong support by other women, women of power. Getting jobs is easy if their somewhat smart as well as beautiful. Because of feminism, people seem to listen to most everything they say or have an issue about. They're beauty is all over the media which boosts their confidence dramatically. Many seem more happier than men, & girls of minority groups.

They can also express their femininity and sexuality way more openly then men. A man is considered a pig when he's open and masculinity is looked upon as violent and negative while femininity is embraced.

I've experienced many times watching women who have very little qualifications get jobs on sheer beauty, and then the managers admit that the attraction was indeed a factor. Thats just one senerio of proof to me. So if you think I don't have valid experience, I don't know what validation your looking for. & sorry I didn't mention that part, there wasn't enough characters to use in the question for it, seriously.

& women were paid less in the past. Thats not true in todays society. At least no one has ever proven with undeniable facts to me that this is true. You sure haven't. And so it seems that it's actually you who has an extrememly limited view of the world.

And for the record, I simply asked if this question had any turth to it. I never said it WAS true or believe it.

Persephon... - That makes me wonder. How can a pretty white girl be more lonely than say an average looking guy? Guys hit on these kinds of girls all the time. Poeple are constantly giving you attention. the average looking guy, especailly a minority doesn't get hit on by chicks, and has to make a grand effort to be noticed by anyone.

And how does the media make you feel bad about yourself? I see TV shows like Shark, Bones, Close To Home, etc, thats all about the strong white woman. Those charaacters don't make you feel empowered? I could see if you were from a culture that isn't shown on Tv at all, and when someone DOES look like you, it's always in a negaitve light.

Maybe sexy images of girls makes you feel like your not attractive enough, but imagine how a non-white girl who looks very different from what is show on beauty billboards must feel.

I hope I don't sound like a jerk, I'm just trying to understand.

Their can be 1000 pretty white girls who easily become successful, out of the 10 minorities who do. Just by pointing out the 10 that does, doesn't mean that there's equality for everyone.

Oh please, a girl just has to look at a guys penis to be called a whore. Regardless of color. Men can sleep with hundreds of girls and be praised and respected, regardless of color. And last I checked men still get paid far more than a woman with the same qualifications in the work force. You have an extremely limited world view and experience. Go live a little...your statements are BEGGING for some sort of evidence or even explanation to back up your claims.

***WELL, asker, quite frankly I took offense to your question and your following details which seem to prove that you do believe this misperception to be true. At least I apologized.

And the point of my frustration toward your question is that you think it makes life easier to get a job based on beauty....how degrading. Most of us go to school to get a degree in hopes that our qualifications ONLY will be considered. If you want to be a pretty white girl who gets a job because she is beautiful, oh and can also spell her name, just to be gawked at and not taken seriously...then by all means, be my guest.

I too have seen girls get jobs based on their beauty and then i have also seen how everyone talks behind their backs about how stupid and useless they are. Doesn't really sound easy to me...

Furthermore, I have also seen pretty Mexican, Black, and Asian girls get jobs b/c they were Mexican, Black, and Asian. Its called affirmative action.

I find it incredibly odd that you dont believe that women are paid less across the board, yet you do think that women get jobs because they are pretty and white. First of all, hiring women because they are beautiful while their qualifications are obviously disregarded, immediately puts her in a position to be ignored and shoved to the side because she was hired to look good and keep her mouth shut. Now do you honestly think that the man who hired her just to look at her is going to pay her the same amount as the men he hired with identical qualifications, if not less.


Yes there is a progressive drive to decrease the gap and improve equality but it is far from over. Im not arguing for women's rights, Im just saying that every single statement you made was jaded, because you have no idea about anyone's life but your own.

I don't think they have it any easier. I have been very lonely many times in my life. I didn't always have a lot of friends that looked like me. I still have a diverse group of friends. The media makes me feel like I am not good enough at times. I wouldn't want to act overtly sexual because I would come off as easy. I know many different types of women who are depressed and lonely, and men for that matter too.

I have been sad and have felt left out MOST of my life. Things aren't always what they appear to be when you look at them from the outside. I have felt ugly and unappreciated. I don't come from a family with money. My father is not in my life. The media makes me feel like I am not good enough in the same ways it makes other women feel this way. I think women who are not white are so beautiful. I used to be a makeup artist, I can appreciate the outer and inner beauty in all women. I have been an outsider most of my life. There are plenty of times where I have gone out at night to clubs, and have come home crying because no one would talk to me. I felt ugly. I don't get these awesome jobs and have men buying me things. I am broke and in school. I see your point, but you can't just assume that white girls are that much happier or better off. Every individual is different.

Yu: See the big "picture". North American white girls have a load of problems (just look at the questions in this site). This is not to say that other girls in other lands don't . But, north American girls have more than their share and then, some. Look at the divorce rate, single moms (the Guys are no better) , etc.
The fathers of these girls spoil the hell out of them, then, the guy who ends up with them gets all the flack. I'm not saying that the guys are any better.

Cute little blonde white girl always gets the best, if she wants it. The good job, the rich husband, the circle of wealthy friends. All she has to do is keep her figure, and find a good hairdresser that knows how to keep her hair blonde.
She will get a job faster than a minority or someone not as attractive, even if the others are smarter or more experienced. And as long as she kisses up to the higher ups, she will keep her job, and get promoted, faster than anyone else.
Cute little blonde girls are taught the rules of the game from their birth, what they are entitled to, and how to get it. And that is the key, the sense of entitlement.They know how to network, use the relationships they make to promote themselves.
Mommy and Daddy do everything they can, braces, ballet classes, Miss Manners classes, good clothes, nice car, good education, and push the daughter to do one better. Mommy caught herself a Doctor? Daughter should have a specialist, at the least.They can afford better school districts, and make sure they move there. Or find a good private school. There is an old saying, "you can marry a rich man as well as a poor one" Mom and Dad would be sure to see to it that her social life is at the club, or that she goes to the best parties. They networked to get where they are, they teach the next generation.
More than ever before, our society is about how a person looks. Politicians, male and female, know this.We as a society might like to think that we are above this, but we are not. And the younger the person is, the more susceptible they are to the lure of money and looks. Today, they are power. In yesterday's world, they only made getting power easier.
We can all point to someone in the media, who is rich, pretty, and powerful, and blonde, but are dumber than a doornail. the media always celebrates beauty. and in America, beauty is a cute little white girl. It is not right, there is beauty in almost all of us. No one cares.

i couldnt agree with u more! for instance! why does a girl need to look classy in a bathing suit (miss america pageants in particular) to do the world good? why do they need to have a talent to raise money? why cant the girl be fat? or chubby?

a womens worth should not be judged by her body weight! and i would feel the same if i were skinny! its not fair and shouldnt be tolerated!


i've watched tv shows where girls say "oh ive been offered cars, money and awhole lot more cuz the way i look, men just love me"

what makes her more deserving of these things than f at girl? becuz of her genes? no i dont think so! that why MOST skinny girls are so shallow! cuz they dont know what its like to fight for what they want! they dont knw values, they will never learn it goin threw life that way! i say yes it is easier for a pretty white girl. i was watching the tyra banks show on this and they did a study on twins. one girl was made ugly while the other stayed pretty and the ugly one got mistreated, looked at (not in a good way) she didnt get the job although she had more experience than her sister. she didnt get as much help at the store than her sister either. so that says something to me. beauty is over rated because people have hearts not just looks.

Let me tell you something: being good-looking, especially if you are white, slim (and if you are a man...tall) makes life so much easier. People treat you better, you earn respect automaticly, people think you are smarter, funnier, nicer, kinder, etc... good-looking girls tend to have more self confidence and therefore are able to attract a wider range of sexes from men to women. Life is so much better when you are good-looking, that's why I believe in investing in a gym, healthy diet, and self-tanners.

are you sure? i don't think its because of the color of ones skin that one is successful or has many friends. there are a lot of colored girls who are as pretty, successful, have great friends.
