Any ideas on how to make him think constantly of me that day? And most important, on how to make us both feel less alone and sad for being apart for the first time on this day.
Kindly note that phoning each other isn't possible, as we're on a very tight budget :-(

Well my boyfriend lives 3000 miles away from me and we manage pretty well. He comes home and I go to visit him. We are on the same cell phone plan so we have unlimited minutes between us (which totally helps).
But last Thanksgiving we were apart and talking on the phone wasn't an option because his phone didnt have service and he didnt want to charge long distance on his family's phone.
SoOo what I did was I made him a card (or you can buy cute ones from Hallmark) and then I wrote a personalized note with a picture of me with it. I told him not to read it until he got to his final destination. This keeps up the anticipation of 1) he is thinking what could possibly be in that envelope and 2) he gets a little surprise when he opens it up and he will be happy for the remainder of the day.
I like the little things. I always send him cards and pictures and text messages.
It's only for Thanksgiving that you're apart. It might feel weird, but you will see him soon enough. If anything your time apart will only make you more EXCITED to be reunited ( so you have something to look forward to all thanksgiving weekend).

try going to The Marine Corps League as they serve lunch or the American Legion or Salvation Army.

write some letters and date them and tell him to open each one on the date so then he will get a message from you every day you are apart..

Take a pair of your panties, and put your perfume on them,
But fold them and roll them, put a ribbon on them, simple, but very, good. It works if you take them off in front of him, if you cant do that, well, you get the idea.

you can go to boston market to eat I love the turkey there.
I would just say every time you eat turkey think of me.
