Such as Loony Toons, I liked the shows (when they still showed them on TV), but notice all the cartoony violence. Especially with Wile-e-coyete and the road runner. By the way the road runner says meep meep, not beep beep.

I'm not against it.

Yes! Cartoons as early as the 40's are so violent.

Look at Tom and Jerry.

Butcher knives, rifles, shotguns, mousetraps, falling pianos, dynamites in teeth, cutting off tails (shudder) and everything else!

How about the Loony Tunes?

Who could forget the TNT gags? The Elmer Fudd and "Wabbit" season gunshots? The Duck Huntings? The Falling of a cliff of Wile E. Coyote? The ACME products that brought numerous body-breaking injuries to (again) Wile E. Coyote?

I'm not saying they're not funny. In fact, they're the best cartoons and nothings going to change that for me.

You haven't watched any current cartoons have you? Check some out..then get back w' us and i'm not talking about just the jap anime or the more adult based ones such as south park..i'm talking regular Nickelodeon cartoons. No..the old cartoons were a kinder gentler time of anvils on roadrunners. I prefer that my kids watch them than alot of the new stuff.

Instead of banning everything simply explain the difference between TV and real life. At 6 he is old enough to know that hitting is wrong even if Tom & Jerry do it. Kids have to learn that even if you see or hear something that does not make it acceptable to you the parent, tell him what is and is not acceptable and anything after that the child is making the choice to act on it and 99% of the time knows it is wrong. Just wanted to add I do have children they are 6 and 8 and they know they cannot do what TV charachters do. They do not watch violence, but banning even Tom & Jerry is going a bit far. You have to teach them what is acceptable not just prevent them from seeing it.

They are no more violent, but today's kids are slightly more easily led by cartoons and computer games than previous generations.

They were violent, but most cartoons now are more gruesome violent. You didn't actually see the brains and the blood and the guts.
