Does lifting weights affect shooting in basketball? Is there a proper way to lift weights and practice shooting to get maximum benefits of lifting weights without affecting your shot?

yes, lifting weights put stress on your arms so when you shoot you feel like you have to shoot alot harder and you end up shooting all the way over the goal.

I think lifting weights can affect your shooting positively or negatively. Some lifting is good but if your arms get really big your arm won't move as free as before.

Have you seen some NFL stars playing basketball? Their arms are so big that their shots don't have good motion.

Bottom line, do some weight lifting, but not to the point where your biceps are huge.

Just my opinion.

Your arms are tired from lifting the weights, and the new muscle mass in your arms isn't helping either. Combine those two factors and you're going to have a harder time getting distance on your shot. Take a break from lifting for a couple days and see if your range doesn't improve. And for what it's worth, if you're so worried about getting distance on your shot, chances are you don't need tons and tons of muscle. Some strength is always good, but if you're mostly playing on the perimeter, leg strength is more important than arm strength.

Yes, lifting weights DOES affect your basketball shooting ability. The best way to lift weights during basketball season is to lift every other day(Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) while shooting every day. Always shoot after you lift - this will stretch the muscles and prevent you from becoming "muscle-bound".

lifting helps u alot it improves your range and to get positioning down low, and if you want to know how to snap your rist or get better at it, just take a 10 pound or whatever u need and just move your wrist up and down a bunch of times
