I've been asked to drive about 50 miles into Baja California for my job (from California (U.S.)). I would stay on toll roads for most of the journey. Please comment on the level of risk involved with this trip.

Low level of risk on the toll roads. Best to drive in the daytime. No more risky than the US.

The drivers tend to drive a little crazy; some really fast, others really slow. But generally if you stay alert and don't follow too close or anything like that, you should be fine. The two times I went to Ensenada and back up to San Diego, I didn't see any accidents at all, so judge from that what you will.
