no it is not unless the opposing team catches it in bounds before it hits the ground or if it is tipped behind the line of scrimmage then it is a live ball.. If nobody touches it and the kick is short and it bounces to the ground then it is a dead ball.

If the ball bounces on the ground, the play is dead. Last week's Giants/Bears game proved that if the ball DOESN'T bounce, it's still a live ball. After having seen the Bears run all the way back for a TD from a Giants long field-goal attempt, it's obvious they need to change that rule. Any play where the purpose of kicking the ball is for points, should only be counted as GOOD or NO GOOD, with play dead thereafter.

yes; It is live;
Years ago Leon Lett actually lost a thanksgiving day game when after he blocked a field goal, he tried to pick it up; he touched it and he fumbled it and the offense got the ball back and did the field goal again and Letts' DAllas team lost.
If the ball was dead when it hit the ground then teams couldn't run back blocked field goals, which they obviously can.
Also, the defense can catch the ball or pick it up and run with it like in the Bears game where he ran it back 108 yards for a td.
If the defense does NOT touch the ball and the ball stops rolling, then the play is ruled dead; just like if it was a punt. That's why when a field goal is blocked you see the defenders and the coaches tell eachother NOT to touch the ball or it's live again for the offense.

No, once it hits the groung its dead.......but if a player from the opposing team can catch it is live and the have the chance to run it back for a score, Nathan Vasher of the Chicago Bears did it last year and ran it back i think 103 years for a touchdown
And for poster ice4444, he is wrong, when a missed field goal hits the groung it is dead, with a blocked field goal the ball can hit the ground and is still live, but its different with a missed field goal

No...once the ball hits the ground the play is over. If you catch a field goal it's the same as catching a punt.
*******GO BEARS!!!********
To the Poster below:
The ball was live because the player blocked it. Once the ball passes the line of scrimmage untouched on a field goal and hits the ground the play is dead.
