I have a class that ends next week and I have to Email the professor about something, but I wanted to include at the end of the email a line saying thanks for an interesting semester. What can I write that wont sound too fake or sound like I'm trying to suck up to her in order to get an A?

comments from actual teachers would be appreciated.

I am an actual professor, and unless the student has a history of slacking and then trying to suck up, I don't assume that their intent is bad. Anything specific you can say would help ("I never thought I would find Victorian literature interesting, but your lecture on Joseph Conrad's work made me so curious that I bought Heart of Darkness to read over vacation.") That shows that you actually listened to what she said in class. Most people get far too little thanks for the work that they do, and I'm sure that your professor will appreciate anything you might say.

Just letting someone know that they have had a positive influence on you is rewarding for a teacher. They don't enter the profession for money, and just a simple thank you card or email makes a world of difference. Keep in touch with them too. They like to see how their students develop after college and it's very flattering for them to hear about your successes and how they helped you along the way.

im not a teacher but if you already have a good grade i wouldnt think it would matter but tell him/her that you enjoyed their class and will recommened them to our classmates that might have to take the course, let them know that they did an excellent job with the class.

You can do what I dp, wait until she grades you and then send a thank you. The same goes for gifts. You shouldn't give any of these until they are free from feeling compromised.

"Thanks for an interesting semester."
That pretty much says all you need to say.
