Back in 1985 I had to have my horse put to sleep because of old age. The following day, we took the rest of the horses out for a ride because we (horses included) were all missing him and were glum. To get to the woods, we had to cross a bridge. Every time we went over the bridge, I would look at the shadows of the horses' legs - mostly because by doing that, you could see whether anyone was lame or moving badly. As I looked, I realised that there was the shadow of another horse behind me. That horse had a very short, bushy tail. My horse had had a very short, bushy tail. I had thought it was funny, that the horse I was riding kept turning around to look behind her and wasn't very comfortable, but I just assumed they were still jumpy from having lost their friend. I didn't realise it was that their friend had decided to come along for the ride! I was glad to see that he wasn't lame any more and happy that he could now run and gallop with the best of them. :)

I have had many experiences with 'ghosts', far too many to share here - I see them all the time and it's just a part of life for me. However, one memorable experience, one of the first that I remember vividly, is from being on a residential holiday in Scotland. I was walking back to my accomodation with a friend when we both saw a woman in victorian teachers clothing walk past us, through a bench, through a buush and into the wall of a building. Both of us saw her, which is possibly why I feel this is a more valid story as it can be corroborated. The following year, when we went back there, the new warden told us some of the history of the camp, including the story of a teacher and her lover who had been burned alive in the building in the victorian era. Its quite sad to think that her essence is trapped and has been for nearly 100 years. If I ever go back there I think I will ask her if she want's to be released from her vigil of walking her final path to meet her lover, she must be tired by now.

I lived in an apartment that I believe had a ghost or two. The house was built in the 1800s and the owners turned the attic into an apartment. The stairs were steep and thin. I came home one night from work (about 3 am-ish) and was walking up the stairs looking down because the stairs were small and i fell on them often. I looked up briefly and saw a perfectly visable silouette of a person stainding about 5 stairs in front of me. I jumped and slipped and fell down the rest of the stairs... when i looked up of course it was gone.
there were a bunch of other little things here and there that freaked me out about the place... noises... stuff moving... the usual. My roomate also had a few creepy stories about the place.. doors opening by themselves and such.

Yes I do.... but not the spooky type we all see on the TV.... more like lost spirits.
They say that children have not learnt to be sceptical about what they can see, so hence they have no limitations to the ability to see spirits. As you grow older your mind will not allow such "silly things".
I believe I saw loads when I was a kid, and I try to remember the experiences, now I'm not sure either. I think it's all to do with opening your mind up to another realm....

Ghosts have been sighted and filmed so there must be something to it. As to having experiences when younger you were more open to believing unfortunately life tends to knock that out of you as you get older and you get more cynical.

I know there are a considerable amount of people that do believe in them but I do not. It would be an interesting question to find out where the notion of ghosts first came from though.

Don't ever stop believing. What you saw was real. You did not make it up. It is not your senses fooling you or your faulty memory or swamp gas reflecting the light from venus. Your rational mind is trying to protect itself from the actual memory you have of what can only be described as "supernatural". I know that as time wears on you can begin to doubt the veracity of even the most obvious evidence and even personal experience.
It was real then, and it's real now.

I had a horrid experience in India!! I was laying in bed...WIDE AWAKE and I felt this big black presence behind me and something in my head kept telling me not to turn round because if I did it would harm me. I didnt move for what felt like an hour and just shut my eyes and prayed. I felt a terrific fear and I have no idea what it was and it worries me up till today. I told other people in the same building and they were all scared!!!!

I hate to recall this experience but when i was 9 or so i was brushing my teeth in the night getting ready for bed. While i was brushing my teeth i saw my reflection in the mirror in front of me.i suddenly saw a lady with black hair practically toucing me and i felt really cold.I thought it was my sister but when i turned and saw around no one was there.I felt really scared .and shudder to think about it still.
This is not a lie and i can say it truthfully.Since that day i see every part of my life carefully and i know its stupid to believe in ghosts but how can i say that since i have seen something like that myself.
Love,
Mishu.
