I think that any type of verbal abuse directed at a particular skin color is offensive. If people frown upon one certain type of harrassment more than another, that's their problem.

I think the prevailing thought is that white people had it good for so many years that they should be able to take a few knocks now--as though white people today were in the same positions of their ancestors 200 years ago. It's complete twiddle-twaddle, of course. Insults spawned by skin colour are always racist. When will we become a colourblind society?

I think You're right. And to your question: It might be because the atramentous pigmented people had (some people would say have - that's a different discussion) been, in the course of history, one of the most abused and used( that's an understatement) people of all. In addition to that - all of the wounds have not formed scabs yet - so the area is still sensitive if one can speak metaphorically.

You're right. It's not fair. But if you look at the way those who feel inferior work, you notice that they tend to hurt the feelings of those who they deem as better than them. Think about it. Why waste your time dogging on someone who you already know you're better than? I'm not saying white is superior by all means, but in this present day, whites have the power and have discriminated against darker skins for hundreds of years. For many, it is how they learn to feel good about themselves by putting others down.
Oh, and plus as long as there are different skin tones, we will never be a colorblind society. Let's be real people. Are you truly offended by the skin tone comments of others?

Mentioning skin color seems to be politically incorrect only so far as the USA goes, judging by my experience. In the rest of the world skin color is acknowledged and spoken of just as is hair color, or eye color.
Some people in the USA have a hang-up, should say many people have many hang-ups; makes us Americans look pretty silly most of the time around the world as far as being accepting of others. Remember, we are only 350 million, of 5 billion on earth.

I don't know of any ginger-skinned people. Perhaps you need a lesson in race throughout the world...eg. Caucasian, Black, Hispanic, Native American, Latino, Asian
Anyway, any jokes about a person's race, ethnicity, country that they are from, hair color, sex, sexual orientation, etc. are in poor taste. i would consider a joke about white Caucasians (honky, trailer-trash) to be just as demeaning as any other group.
These days, the only time it's funny is if the person telling it is a member of the same group.

Because these people have beautiful skin however they are rightly sensative considering their horrible history in the USA. I think you knew the answer and perhaps were looking to get some hateful people to write racist remarks For your information I am white and have never been a bigot like unfortunately too many people who are.

"Lion Spider," you said it.
When you "call" yourself white, you "call" us black.
When you "call" blacks colored, your not.
But when blacks come in shades, you tan instead of except yourself and others.
That's a fact set and made by your American "white" society.
Blacks are aware of their shades, we just can't (racism) and choose not to play them out in this society (our choice).
I have nothing against irish descent, just a** ppl like "Lion Spider."
