All I can offer you is a little advice. The nylon string variety you should avoid at first. They're easier on your fingers but lose their tuning almost on the hour.

Martin was the brand most highly talked about for it's tone. But the thing I look for anymore, whatever brand, is how close the strings rest above the frets. You see, the cheaper guitars have the high notes with the strings too high above the frets which makes "feeling" the neck a little more difficult.

While you shop. I hope you pick up and feel a Fender Stratocaster, or a Gibson Les Paul. Those are sold-body, but they have the neck like I want it.

If your on a buget buy a First Act total package for about 50.00 at Wall-Mart, if prices does not matter then a Talor T5 series standard spruce top acoustic guitar on Ebay or musicansfriend.com is good.

If you are a beginner, Yamaha guitars are fairly decent, and don't cost a fortune.

Seagull guitars are a bit more expensive, but they have a very good tone for an inexpensive guitar. They are Canadian-made, and might not be so inexpensive in Chanai. Takemine might be a good alternative in an Asian market.
