Whenever my baby poops a lot it gets everywhere. All around her butt in the front and even inside her vaginal area. How should i be cleaning it? I use to open it a little so the water can run through it so that way no poop gets stuck. But now i dont think its such a good idea to clean it that way. Any tips?

You have to clean the inside for hygiene purposes. Just be very gentle and use a cotton wool ball soaked in warm water. Ask your Health Visitor for tips.

From the site listed below:
If you are changing a girl, make sure you always wipe from front to back to help prevent infection. If your baby is a newborn, you will want to cleanse the area thoroughly with either cotton balls and warm water or with a wet baby washcloth. Wipes, especially those containing alcohol, can cause rashes and irritation until children are about two months old.

I started using disposable wipes with my girl once she was a fw mths old, without any problems. I know I've read before to be careful not to wipe too much your girl's vaginal area as you can eliminate the 'good' bacteria that is there and she could get an infection. Of course if there is poop in there you need to do something! If practical, you should give a bath ASAP after a big bowel movement like that. I dont think your way is that bad, better than using wipes really. Our bathroom isnt well situated for changing my girl in there, otherwise I would have liked to do the same.

My daughter is 6 weeks and has had several of these 'bigguns'.
I must admit, I used wipes since she was a couple of days old as they're so much easier and she isn't sensitive to them.

I was nervous of how far 'in' to clean, but just wipe "front to back" with a wet cotton ball or folded wipe then gently open the sides a little to check it's all clean, and as said above... bathe thoroughly

This happens with my daughter too, it's gross but pretty common, I'm sure. I change her immediately after she poops so its not like she's sitting in it, but it still happens. I just make sure that I wipe her thoroughly from front to back until the wipe comes through clean, and then I wash her just as thoroughly each night in her bath. I was always worried about her getting an infection from this happening, but so far she's been fine.

Ok. I don't know how much I can help you, because I have an infant son. When my son poops his pants I just clean the area in the bathtub. I have a hand held shower head and rinse him off this way. Maybe this will work for you to.

Oh yes, my daughter was the same, baby wash and water, if not on hand use the wipes, you hae no choice but to get "in the cracks" she can get a yeast infection if you don't. Gentle cleansing is the best. If you feel that uncomfortable, use the wet Q-tip method. Boys are much easier, but what can you do. Good Luck and Take Care.

Hey, you should see some of the poo-splosions my little girl puts out (she's 10 months now) and it goes EVERYWHERE. I just get a wipey in there and and clean it out. Always make sure you're wiping front to back so she won't get a UTI. It's an advantage having a girl, my husband watches me clean her out and says "wow you really get in there." I tell him I know what it's like to have a hoo-ha :)

My midwife recommended Vaseline, as this would stop it from sticking.

She also recommended NOT using baby wipes, but after weeks of water and cotton wall, I gave up and started using them. As long as you get a good quality one like Pampers Sensitive, there should be no problems.

Good luck.

somewhat than attempt to manually extract it (a unfavourable organisation maximum suitable left to specialists), the main secure and quickest way is to furnish him a infant-length glycerine suppository. no be counted if that's infant-length (one million gram dose in uk) you will now not ought to decrease it in 0.5. the main suitable insertion approach is to bend him over your lap, so which you will unfold his butt cheeks and insert the suppository (push all of it the way in, till it gets sucked away). Watch over him for 5 minutes or so, to make specific he would not push it out beforehand it particularly is dissolved. He would submit a fuss, notwithstanding it's going to help him to do a stinky, in under 0.5 an hour!

I always use plenty of wipes and clean the inside of it. There is nothing wrong with cleaning the inside of her vagina if you don't she will get an infection. You don't want that!

my daughter is 3 months old.
