I often find myself, when in a class with new people, that my conversations lead to nowhere. They eventually stop and people just stop talking to me. When I'm with my friends, I'm really loud and eccentric-- but when it comes to new people and I'm by myself, I'm really quiet. What should I do? I'm bad at continuing conversations.

Try asking people questions about themselves. People love to talk about themselves, will tell you all about themselves, and there's almost no work on your part other than to encourage them to keep talking. They'll walk away thinking you're such a wonderful person, and you'll learn lots of new interesting things.

In life, Be quick to listen and slow to speak. As they say a tongue has no bone. It's sometimes best to be quiet around people you don't know. You get to know them better by the words they speak and you will know if they are the right people to keep as friends. Be known as a good listener. It's the only way to understand others. And if you like what they say, you'll have something to say as well. Words will come easier that way!!!!

Imagine you are talking to your friends. Also, learn to be comfortable with yourself and don't care what anyone else thinks of you. Maybe you are suppressing what you really want to say for fear that others will judge you by what you say or how you act. Feel free to be yourself, your friends seem to like your loud and eccentric side, so why shouldn't a stranger? :) I really hope this helps, so good luck.
