How one should decide about use of pancake stick or foundation? What is the difference in their utility?

Pancake is ususally thicker and is sponged on for a lot of coverage. Foundation stick gives good coverage too. Liquid foundation comes in many forms to light weight tint to a heavy coverage liquid. Pancake or stick is good to cover dark under eye areas, redness, pores, sunspots, etc. The liquid gives a soft glow to a girl who is not covering acne or scars or uneven color. A cover stick is good to use on the dark or red areas, then use a pancake with a sponge. If you are going out or to a dance, you will want to use a big brush and apply powder to set your makeup. It will last longer this way. Best of luck to you!!

Pan-cake is completely out of date and only worn for stage and screen. The only times I ever used pan cake make up was when I was on television. It's think, heavy, looks obvious the skin and it can clog up pores and is difficult to clean off. I think heavy make-up is quite unflattering. Foundations can be light, sheer, powders, liquids, and all sorts of formulations. I like light sheer tinted moisturizers with sunscreen in the summer and in the winter I switch to a more moisturizing and emollient creme foundation to hlp protect my skin from drying out in the cold.

Pancake tends to be heavier, and is used for full coverage, especially of discoloration. It's also used for stage makeup.
