I was in a accident on the I-5 in oregon. My wife fell asleep at the wheel. Now i got rushed to the er because i had glass all over my face, the nurses cleaned me up and said i was good to go and checked me out, I came home and found a piece of glass still lodged in my head, and another still in my lip now my question is do i have grounds for a lawsuit against the hospital for not removing the glass from my head, btw the glass is located just above my eye, and in the inside of my lip that was the most horrible day of my life. and whats worse is that they just didnt even fix me now i am being charged 500 dollars for the doctor in san diego to take that out, because my insurance doesnt cover it. so i am just curious because i feel that the first hospital should cover my bill for not doing their job.

Have the hospital submit the bill to your auto insurance carrier (your wife's if it's different). It is still the same accident. And while you could sue the hospital for not getting the glass out I'm fairly sure you wouldn't win. Think about it - your face was covered in blood and glass is clear. They probably couldn't see the glass for the blood and swelling. Just be glad that enough people can pay for health care and insurance (you included if you pay for these things) so that there was someone available to take you to the hospital, check your injuries and then a hospital with a doctor on staff who could treat your injuries. Not every country has such care.

I'm not an advocate of biting the hand that feeds you - on in this case, the hand that treated you.

You'll never collect.

Find a lawyer that gives free consultations, you will probably be told you don't have a case.

I was in an accident in 1962, and still have bits of gravel emerging from my back from time to time. My wife digs them out and puts a little rubbing alcohol in the hole. You may have bits of glass work out in the future. And how IS your wife?
