You should contact your local health department. I do believe that in most states, the health department is charged with enforcement of non-smoking laws.

Be sure to carry a small tape recorder with you after you complain. You can expect that there will be illegal retaliation against you.

I would recommend you to advise some one higher than the manager. Maybe the franchise it self. Smoking is harmful and has been declared more harmful to a second hand smoker, meaning you the one inhaling someone else fumes. If there is a law against smoking in your state, contacting authorities may help, and they will get fined for not abiding by the law. You will be targeted, but you can not get fired for that. If it becomes hell working there, maybe it is time to move on. But your conscience will be clean, you were strong, and stood strong to your value. Obviously they don't have respect for themselves and others. Take care, and good luck!

Contact McDonald's Corporate headquarters in Chicago, Ill or contact the health department and report the restaurant for a health violation.

The health dept will penalize them. The McDonalds franchise has certain rules each store must maintain and I am sure smoking in a non smoking store would jeapordize the rules and put the franchise at risk for lawsuits.

Contact the people higher than her. You might even be able to go to there website and e-mail them. YES smoke IS BAD for you. Weather it is a little or a bunch. Also if it says no smoking then that's what it means. Doesn't matter what hour of the day it is.

I am from Ohio {Cleveland} and I am afraid you may loose your job if you follow my advise. Write your congressman and senators and send a letter to all the papers like Cleveland Press and Plain Dealer and tell them. IT IS AGAINST THE LAW and I feel so strongly about it that now I will not go into another McDonalds. 2nd thought Also call company headquarters

Well, you have every right to work in a non smoking invironment, however if everybody at your job seems to be okay with smoking there, you probably won't want to make a big huge fuss. How many McDonald's are in your town? Transfer

wow, that's a bad situation that you're in, I'm sure that you could still work at a different location in Ohio.

maybe contact the health department regards the issue, that would be the first thing and while waiting, work at a different McDonald's restaurant.

do what you believed in. stay with your belief and moral.
