I own a 73 Cut Supreme and the battery use to short to the in side of the quarter panel because it didn't have the battery clamp to hold it in place while driving braking ect. so it would die another reason could be the alternator is slipping check the belts push the belt on the alternator if it gives more than an half of an inch or more have them adjust it correctly. p.s. the battery could have a dead cell making it unable to hold a charge for as long as it should batteries sit along time some times before being sold causing the elements in side acid and lead to settle and most shops maintenance their batteries to prevent this some don't but should.

It sounds like you have some type of electrical draw on your battery. Disconnect your negative battery cable. Attach a test light between the cable end and the negative post of the battery. If the test light illuminates you have a draw. Try pulling the fuses one at a time untill the light goes out. The fuse you pull that shuts the light off will be the circuit that is drawing power. Be sure to have your door closed or the dome light will draw power giving you false readings! Good luck

well i think you should go to a real mechanic and not these auto stores. if you have an autozone or rs strauss near you then try them. cause i had a 87 ford tempo and it was well till the car wasnt starting first thought it was battery but then it end up being the alternator as well as the starter. did you try to do a boost with another car to charge the battery. try that. honestly i think you might need to change the battery. Well good luck with everything. Here is my personal e-mail address: Samcho2004@aol.com. e-mail me on any updates you do on the car

1973's had a voltage regulator outside of the alt. usually mounted on the core support near the radiator. If it isn't working properly the alt. will overcharge or not charge the battery at all. Check the plug and connections at the regulator and see if their loose or corroded if so, tighten the connection or try to clean the corrosion off the best you can . This probably your problem. good luck
