Well if this country doesn't get it's act together and start forcing a change on some of the crap going on like the no smoking bans that are forced on us by a small majority of liberals who only think they are the only ones who knows what's best for us we will be under the Big Brother system a hell of a lot sooner then any one knows. Automobiles cause more deaths then anything but they do nothing about it. We have to wear seat belts but idiots on motorcycles don't have to wear helmits. And that's just acouple of the problems that should have been taken care of way before this smoking band.

I was in New York a few weeks ago and I was amazed at this law in the city that prohibits smoking indoors almost in every public building, yes including bars, clubs and restaurants. Im from Texas, so im not used to that, Im a SOCIAL SMOKER and you can almost smoke everywhere down here so I was like wow. But then I noticed that I didnt smoke that much up there, which is a good thing. The way I think is like on the middle, like I said I am a smoker and I do agree that smoking is a personal choice and a club owner for example, should be the one that allows or prohibits smoking inside the place. Im used to having a smoke whenever im drinking its not the same when u drink and dont smoke! But when I was up there I realized that this law is doing so much good! And I think about it and I would hope this would be everywhere in the states (thinking in a healthy way i guess) but then I think about it again and I feel like having a cigarrette just thinking about the whole issue... damn nicotine... ;)

I think they should be aloud to smoke in bars and clubs. I live right next to a bar. Because of the people not being aloud to smoke inside, they go out back at night and make a lot of noise. Also, if they don't want to be around the smoke then they should not be a bar or club. Either way they are messing up there own health. Either by the smoke or the beer!

ya I agree I mean most people go into those places knowing that that's going to be around so if you don't like it leave. I don't smoke but I was a social smoker for a long time I think if they are going to continue all the rules for smokers they might as well ban smoking all together.

I think it should be up to the owner too. They OWN the place! They pay for it with their own money, and if they lose business because people don't want to be around smoke, then it's their choice. If they closed it to the public and just lived there they could smoke, but they choose to open it and sell things. BUT they still own the darn thing! It doesn't make sense to me that the government should be able to tell them they can't let people smoke in their own building. It's a privately owned building, not a public one like a library or hospital.

I think it should be banned, but then I'm not a smoker. Why should I have to inhale second hand smoke if I want to go to a bar or club????

I totally agree with what you are saying, it should be up to owner of the bar or club. This is a coincidence, I just blogged about a related subject in my 360, of a city in the U.S. encouraging their citizens to call 911 to report smoking in non-smoking area.

THE BAR/CLUBS SHOULD MAKE THE CHOICE if non-smoking sells great if not to bad deal with it or don't go. I am a non smoker but believe in individual freedom.

Its straight idiotic to ban smoking in such places as bars and clubs.
This should be left to people who own these to decide, besides in order to keep the nonsmokers from passive smoking you could have special extract fans installed in the ceiling that such away the smoke at great speeds, and the air is literally pollution free.
After all, why dont you ban cigarette companies from manufacturing cigarettes if you think it is sooooo injurious to health, You wanna tax people on tobacco and yet continue to make exhorbitant monies outta people miseries, and just by virtue of that alone, we should be allowed to smoke when we please and where we please, cause we have paid a multipoint tax for the purchase of cigarettes,
It should be upto the govts to pass legislations and expel smoke from the vicinity technically and prevent others from passive smoking.

No. NYC parks not permit smoking. And, this entails locations regarded "greenstreets" as good (the ones are small site visitors island parks, when you must recognise). Outdoor coach station structures not allow smoking. Beyond that, rather a couple of constructions do not permit smoking at the same time loitering in entrance of them. But, no person can quit the pedestrian people who smoke. Not rather.
