If a Morgan dollar does not have a mintmark, that means that it was minted at Philadelphia. The only time (to my knowledge) that the "P" mintmark was actually used to designate the Philadelphia mint was when the silver "war" nickels were minted in the 1940's. I cannot give you a value without knowing the grade (condition). For example, a Very Good (rather worn) grade currently lists at $13.75, while a MS65 (high uncirculated grade) lists at $5,150 in the wholesale dealer price guide (the Greysheet). This shows you what a big difference the grade makes. Good luck!

The mint mark if it has one is located on the reverse below the wreath. Grade is also important. I will give you what a very fine coin should have, then you can see if yours is not as good. or is better. Two thirds of hairlines from top of forehead to ear must show, ear well defined and feathers on eagles breast worn but show. The mintage is 8,684,206. It is worth from $13.50 to $20.00 in circulated grades. More if in mint state. Most people don't judge mint state grades well, so best see a local dealer or a member of a coin club near you , if you thing it is mint state.

It is only worth about 6 to 8 dollars. Morgan Silver Dollars are plentiful. Do a search on the web, you can get an accurate figure.

Take it to a couple of local coin shops for proper valuation. Check out coin grading books. To do this online is impossible as it is subjective to the condition.
