I'm having trouble finding soft (pre-walking) baby shoes in a large enough size for my baby. He wears a 5-1/2 extra wide shoe. I have searched the internet (i.e. Stride Rite, Robeez, BobuxUSA, amongst others) and have gone into multiple stores. So far, I have not found a baby shoe that is appropriate for him in his size. I am looking for a shoe that will protect him from the cold (snowy) weather where I live and that will be comfortable for him. Any suggestions???

I answered your other question, find your local Stride Rite, My son wears a extra wide as well , we have been buying him Stride Rite only for his entire life (20 months) the stores carry a ton, it is the only place you wil find them aside from going on Ebay & typing in 5 1/2 extra wide under the shoe catagorly you may fid some new, however Robeez are very narrow & they do not make a wide.

Since you didn't give a link, I'm going to assume you mean socks and shoes in general. Up until recently when she started to crawl around more I rarely tried to put shoes on my daughter. She hates them and tries to pull them off, typically having one off before I can even get the other on. For me, baby shoes have been mostly a waste of money. My daughter doesn't like socks much better but she tolerates them a little more, though I have to be diligent and buy socks she has a hard time pulling off. The hospital gift shop where I delivered my daughter had these adorable socks that looked like shoes. They had sneakers and Mary Jane styles. They were adorable, though my daughter has long since out grown them. She has lots of socks with characters on them, Piglet, Pooh, animals, etc.

I don't think I've ever seen extra wide baby shoes. Maybe you could try going up to a 6 or 7? Since he's not walking, it probably wouldn't bother him. My son is wearing a size 3 at 9 months old, and we buy his shoes at Wal-Mart and BabiesRUs, mostly.
And if all else fails, you could just do two pairs of socks and some soft booties. Sorry I can't be more help! Good luck!

Stride Rite does have XWide. My son (2 years) still wears a double XW. He has chunky feet.
When he was real little it was either Stride Rite or Robeez.

I never used shoes for my daughter before she was walking. There's really no need, other than appearance. I had some thick socks my baby wore, and as an infant before walking, she wore a snowsuit in the winter. No need for shoes. Just make sure they are warm and bundled up.

Try Darling Shoes.com and also Zappos.com. They have an excellent selection of XW shoes. You might not get Pre-Walkers, but can get some soft boots.
