I am applying to law schoo...I'm 26, I would also really like to have a baby and I feel like its one or the other. I would so like to do both but I'm afraid its not do-able. I know of people who did it in their last year...but that's four years from now for me. I also want to be home with my children, for at least a while. What do you think? How can you have children, be there for them, and have a great career?

I have no conceivable idea how someone could have a baby and go to law school. It's possible, I'm sure, but I don't think it's a good idea for you or the baby. Law school is stressful enough on its own. In fact, I don't even know how married people do it, though plenty of them do.

Let me explain it to you:

I'm a fast reader and to do all of the work that I need to do and go to classes I devote 10-12 hours a day to school. Some days it is less, of course, but some days more since you will have memos and such to write. I also don't find it necessary to do case briefs, but if I did, I would spend so much more time doing work. Then if you decide to do moot court or journal that is even more time away from home.

I always tell people when they ask that law school is like a full time job and then some.

there is no such thing as impossible but you have to plan ahead because you can have it all. be realistic and understand that law school witll take more time than you think it will because of your responsiblities. make sure you have people in your life that will be a strong support system for you.
