People are usually afraid of the unknown and anything that takes them out of their emotional, intellectual, and spiritual comfort zone. Your picture/avatar happens to be one of them - it simply throws people off-balance. A few of us, on the other hand, will find its uniqueness quite intriguing and even delightful (myself certainly included on that list). In an unfortunate world of ours where differences are still only superficially celebrated and even that often against a backdrop of enforced political correctness, people may only feel at ease about voicing their true feelings in a virtually anonymous milieu like Y!A. In other words, if you really looked like your Y!A picture in real life I doubt if too many people would have actually come up to you and said: “Gosh you freak me out” (as they feel comfortable in doing here). So in a sense you are witnessing people's true personality colors on Y!A. Still, I cannot help but to think that you are already quite aware of all that, and in fact somewhat mischievously basking in the provocative intent of your visual statement. A further analysis of your picture might reveal other underlying peculiarities, as well:
1-The picture exudes an eerie, almost artificially creepy, calmness about it, especially when considered together with your on-line nickname "Screaming Frenzy". In all, it is a contradictory and provocative visual presentation.
2-Genetically speaking, if the picture was to be considered as that representing a human being, most people would have immediately associated it with a person suffering from a congenital disorder. Indeed, there are genetic "disorders" where the person would end up looking exactly as portrayed by your image. If to most people, beauty subconsciously represents the assurance of genetic health, then your picture conjures up exactly the opposite sensation. Although, I must say to me it is not only cute, but a perfect example of humanity having actually begun its inevitable path towards its eventual "alien" destiny. :-)
3- I assume the most peculiar feature about your picture, as far as most people are concerned, is the larger than average distance between the eyes which combined with its hypnotic and otherworldly gaze impart the idea of being able to penetrate the minds and thoughts of people. In other words, having the ability to telepathically read/control the destiny of others. This in part is reinforced by the popular notion of “the alien” with a big head and penetrating eyes.
In other words, all the elements are already there for a big laugh about the whole thing and yet people still become disturbed by it even on a site like Y!A where they are used to seeing all kinds of weird and goofy images. And do you know why that is? Simply because YOUR PICTURE can in fact represent a REAL "freak of the nature" possibility (e.g. an alien or a genetically deformed human) - which is a most disturbing (and must be avoided at all cost) scenario/thought for the majority of your fellow humans out there. … After all, people love to be scared out of their wits, BUT NOT for REAL. :-)
P.S. As for me, I still say there is a gorgeous gal behind that avatar just dying to come out - and too bad about the olive leaf, btw. LOL :-)

Once upon a time people were afraid of "the big bad wolf." Having eradicated wolves nearly to the point of extinction, they are now desperate for the next fright fest to scare the heebie jeebies out of them. I'm afraid your cockroaches won't fill the bill. Now your avatar....maybe, but I kind of doubt it. There's a kind of sad pensiveness to it that ultimately calls forth a sympathetic response. If you were looking for pure unadulterated fright I'm afraid it's back to the drawing board for you.
And αΩ∞, "for the majority of your fellow humans out there," not "our fellow humans?" Another unintentional slip? Or just more misinformation to deflect our penetrating view from the real truth?
