I have updated my Realtek software several times, then everything is great. Then I will shut my computer off and restart, the sound no longer works and states there are no active mixers or drivers installed. I reinstall the drivers again and all is well again. until the next time I shut off and restart. I have an HP Pavilian Media Center computer m380n.

I am and will forever be an enemy of HP, unless they hire me and pay me $100k a year...
The driver may actually be incompatible with some of HP own stuff. uninstalling the driver and restart. Then reload the driver.
